LEAD PAINT POISONING AND THE LAW

On April 23, 2010, the Rutgers Law Record at Rutgers School of Law–Newark held a symposium entitled “Lead Paint Poisoning and the Law." The symposium featured presentations from practitioners who work in toxic tort litigation and those looking to expand their practice were able to hear panelists discuss the successes and failures that policy makers, attorneys, and municipalities have faced through litigation and legislation, as well as new strategies, aimed at redressing this problem. After the panels, attendees were invited to participate in breakout sessions.

Speakers that were on the agenda included Theresa Bourbon(EPA Region 2), Ronald Chen(Former Public Advocate and Assistant Dean, Rutgers School of Law – Newark), Robin Dahlberg(ACLU), Veronica D’Alessandro (New Jersey Department of Community Affairs), Fidelma Fitzpatrick(Motley Rice), Crystal Motlasz (New Jersey Department of Health), Joseph Pargola (New Jersey Office of the Child Advocate), Louis Raveson (Professor of Law, Rutgers School of Law – Newark), Kevin M. Ryan (President, Covenant House and Former Child Advocate ), Jay S. Schneider (Ph.D. Professor, Dept. of Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology, Jefferson Medical College), Barry Sugarman (Wilentz Goldman & Spitzer), and Meghan Tierney (EPA Region 2).
